World Wide Polis

Resumo:

This article intends to make some observations for the contemporary Political Philosophy. It is based on the premise that human beings always collaborate and struggle, live and die in some polis. But it recognizes the emergency, at present, of a new polis: the World Wide Polis. This polis will implicate a conceptual re-engineering that will supplant the traditional inherited notions of time and space, culture and nature. Globally interconnected, this polis integrates in a complex way all human beings existent on the planet. The new worldwide polis will be characterized by the more and more imperative presence of new and unusual political actors, such as the omnipresent cybernetic machinery and all the natural beings that are today dependent on human action. The more and more decisive presence of women and youth in the public space is also emphasized. In this context, one proposes a political ecosophy to face the great contradictions of contemporary society. It is from this new setting that one intends to situate the political issues of our time.
