Resumo:

This article identifies accords and discords between the philosophy of Bergson and Proust’s novel, In Search of Lost Time. It describes the problem within the tradition of the studies that deal with the distance and proximity between the philosopher and the writer and calls Proust an intermittent Bergsonian. It analyzes the final pages of the novel o expound the view of time and the process of its revelation. Proust’s time can, then, be understood in its basic aspects: as inner, qualitative and essential time. Compared to Bergson’s view of time, the conclusion discloses an essential accord between Bergson and Proust: time as duration.
