Resumo:

This paper shows: (i) the capabilities approach as a real freedom perspective through the connections with the ethics of Aristotle and through its eleutheronomic foundation in Adam Smith, Immanuel Kant and Karl Marx; (ii) the contributions of the impartial spectator as open impartiality to the idea of justice; and (iii) a broader conception of rationality.
